1963 Wilson "The Duke" Presentational Game Ball from the World Champion Chicago Bears. There are very few sports enthusiasts who don't recognize the 1985 Chicago Bears as one of the best defensive teams ever to take the gridiron, but the 1963 Windy City squad was no slouch in its own right. With Doug Atkins and Ed O'Bradovich reeking havoc on opposing quarterbacks from their defensive end slots, and Bill George and Larry Morris defending short passes at their linebacker position, the 1963 Bears D picked off 36 passes and allowed only 10.3 points and 227 yards per game.

Offered here is a superb presentational game ball that was given to "Joe Indes" from the 1963 world champion Bears. Admittedly, there is no way we can be sure that this particular pigskin was used during the '63 league title game. However, we are very confident that it was used during in an unknown NFL game from the same era, as suggested by the solid wear displayed throughout. That fact, coupled with the fact that it was used as a presentational game ball, makes us assume that it was used during a significant NFL contest. Heavy wear exhibited throughout, with a large dark stain on the Thorp Sporting Goods panel.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
