Description

1936 Green Bay Packers Team Signed Football - Represents First Championship Game Victory Season! Unless you are sifting through the impressive confines of the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame at historic Lambeau Field, chances are you will never see a similar piece to the example offered in this highly significant catalog listing. After Redskins' owner George Preston Marshall previously announced plans to move his team to Washington D.C., the Packers traveled to the Polo Grounds in New York City to take on the Boston Redskins in the 1936 NFL title game. This historic contest was the Packers' first NFL Championship played by the team under head coach Curly Lambeau, after winning league championships awarded by league standings in 1929, 1930 and 1931. A first quarter 48-yard touchdown pass from Arnie Herber to Don Hutson set the tone for an impressive 21-6 win by the "Green and Gold" on that momentous day, and offered here is an amazing football that is signed by the championship squad in immaculate black ink. The regulation-sized pigskin includes signatures from the Green Bay East High School team on one side, and 31 signatures from the Packers roster on the other. Keys include: Curly Lambeau, Johnny Blood McNally, Arnie Herber, Don Hutson, Walter Kiesling, Clarke Hinkle, Buckets Goldenberg and others. headshot clippings of each of the featured squads have been applied to the ball, while the entire leather canvas displays an attractive shellacked texture. To call this anything but a "Packers Holy Grail" would be an insult to this Canton-caliber offering. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
