The 297th and final game of "The Streak!"

2010 Brett Favre Consecutive Games Streak Final Game Worn & Signed Minnesota Vikings Jersey. Sorry, Mr. Ripken, your number may be larger, but the most impressive consecutive games streak in professional sports history belongs to this man, the preternaturally durable Hall of Fame quarterback who unfailingly answered the starting bell 297 times between September 27, 1992 and the December 5, 2010 contest from which this battered purple mesh gamer derives. Even the Orioles legend himself acknowledged the mind-bending enormity of the feat, saying, "As a football fan, I cannot fathom his accomplishment."

But just after death and taxes, NFL injury remains one of the great certainties of life, and the forty-one year old Gunslinger's luck finally ran out during this thirty-eight to fourteen victory over the Buffalo Bills. In Favre's only pass attempt of the game, a third-and-five play during the game's opening drive, the superstar quarterback was struck from behind by Bills linebacker Arthur Moats as he threw, driving Favre to the turf and sending the ball into the arms of defensive back Drayton Florence for an interception.

Favre would be lifted for back-up quarterback Tarvaris Jackson, who'd lead the Vikings to a thirty-eight to fourteen rout over the visitors, but the injury would be the biggest story of the game, and pundits instantly turned to discussions about the threatened streak. The collapse of the Metrodome roof in the days that followed seemed to suggest that a higher power was on Favre's side, but the game against the New York Giants was moved to Ford Field with only a day's delay, not enough for the numbness in Favre's throwing hand to subside.

Shortly before kickoff, Jeff Anderson, a Vikings spokesman, announced to the public on Twitter that Favre was benched: "Vikings Inactives - 12, 19, 25, 31, 76, 90, 91...and 4. The streak ends..."

Thus that briefest appearance of Favre's professional career would prove to be the last of the most impressive streak in sports, establishing this as one of the most important jerseys of the modern game. The classic white-and-yellow-on-purple mesh design features a number "4" on chest, shoulders and back, with "Favre" standing across rear nameplate in two and a half-inch block. Upper chest holds captain's "C" and franchise Golden Anniversary patches, and interior collar a pair of swatches reading, "10-48" and "Q." Tail is custom elasticized per Favre's preference.

Verso bears the silver scuff of Moats' facemask as he applied the damage thousands of other opponents had failed to muster over nearly two decades of play. And Favre himself assures the special provenance below his 9/10 black sharpie signature on rear numeral, writing, "Streak ends 12/5/10." A video of the signing is available on our website, providing the most ironclad provenance possible. A truly important gridiron artifact that tells the story of the great Brett Favre as well as any that exists. Includes video of Favre signing jersey and talking about the hit and the game. Letter of provenance from Brett Favre. LOA from Packers Jersey Expert Guy Hankel. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
