1986 John Elway Game Worn Denver Broncos Helmet. Yet another tremendously productive season for the Hall of Fame Denver Broncos quarterback, who racked up nearly 4,000 yards of offense and 19 passing touchdowns against just 13 picks in 1995. Presented is one of the earlier John Elway game-worn helmets to hit the auction block, and this one dates to the 1986 season.

An extremely desirable style among high-end helmet collecting circles, it presents its original 1986 clips, while the facemask dates to April 1986. The jaw pads are not Elway's typical leather style of the 1986 season, as these were most likely replaced after the fact. One other inconsistency of note is that the end of the rear middle stripe of the helmet doesn't extend to the edge of the shell, as it may have also been replaced at a later date. Still one of the nicest early-career Elway gamers we have seen, and definitely one of the most eye appealing shells in our May catalog auction. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
