    Description

Super Bowl hardware from one of the game's key playmakers

1974 Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl IX Championship Ring Presented to Glen Edwards. It was one of the most brutal hits in Super Bowl history, applied to Vikings wide receiver John Gilliam in the waning minutes of the first half in the game's ninth edition. After leading Minnesota on a fifty-five yard drive to the edge of the red zone, Hall of Fame quarterback Fran Tarkenton threw a rocket to Gilliam as he streaked across the center of the field at the Steelers' five-yard line.

Both the ball and Steelers safety Glen Edwards arrived simultaneously, the latter with a high forearm shiver that sent Gilliam hurtling backwards and the ball looping high into the air where it was easily fielded by Hall of Fame Steelers cornerback Mel Blount to end the Vikings threat. The Steelers would then run out to the clock to end the first half with a record low scoring total: Steelers two, Vikings zero. Many pundits consider that interception to be the turning point of the game, the key play in securing a first Super Bowl victory for the Black and Gold.

Presented is the sport's most coveted symbol of achievement, the Super Bowl ring issued to Edwards for his contributions in bringing joy to the fertile football grounds of western Pennsylvania. A large genuine diamond is set into a black stone on the ring's face, encircled by text trumpeting, "1974 Pittsburgh Steelers World Champions." Left shank is engraved with the team's helmet logo and "Edwards 27," while right shank pictures the fabled Lombardi Trophy with "Super Bowl IX" text as well as the results of the three playoff victories that narrowed the NFL field to one.

Interior band is stamped "10K" and measures to size nine. Fine condition.

Just wanted to let you know how pleased I am regarding the sale of my hockey jersey. You were great to work with, you answered all my phone calls and e-mails in a prompt manner, and you did a great job marketing the jersey.
