Description
1973 Miami Dolphins Super Bowl VIII Championship Ring. A perfect season will inevitably put the biggest target on your back, and while a couple of teams did manage to get the upper hand on the Miami Dolphins the following season, nobody was able to do so once the postseason began. For the second consecutive season, and the final time to date, the Lombardi Trophy was delivered to the southern tip of the NFL map.This dazzling memento of Miami's victory over the Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl VIII was issued to a Dolphins staffer but is identical in every regard to those earned on the gridiron by Griese, Csonka and Buoniconti. It is very similar to the 1972 model in design, but it doubles up on the authentic diamonds set in the blue stone of the ring face to symbolize the team's back-to-back achievement. Raised text at perimeter reads, "Miami Dolphins World Champions 72-73." Left shank identifies recipient by surname above an enameled team logo. Right shank reads, "Super Bowl VII, VIII, Back to Back," amidst Lombardi Trophy imagery and engraved details of the games' results.
Interior band is stamped "Jostens 10K." The ring measures to a size nine and a half (9.5) and weighs forty grams (40 g.). Only light wear is evident, and the ring remains paired with its beautiful original "Back-to-Back" wooden display case.
