    Description

1956 New York Giants Team Signed NFL Championship Football - Obtained from Charlie Conerly Collection! With a little bit of déjà vu involved, the 1956 National Football League Championship Game was played on an icy field at Yankee Stadium, and just like the famous "Sneaker Game," of 1934 championship lore, the New York Giants opted to wear sneakers instead of traditional cleats, and that tactical move proved as a major factor in the team's 47-7 romping of the Chicago Bears.

Offered here is a game ball used in the 1956 NFL Championship Game, and it was originally obtained from the widow of Giants legend Charlie Conerly. Accompanied with a letter of provenance from Mrs. Perian Conerly, the Wilson (Bert Bell) "The Duke" football exhibits medium game wear, and it is signed by an array of players from the Big Apple championship squad. Key signatures include: Vince Lombardi (very light), Frank Gifford, Jack Stroud, Kyle Rote, Andy Robustelli, Bill Austin, Ray Beck, Cliff Livingston, Dick Nolan, Bob Schnelker, Ken MacAfee, Charlie Conerly, Mel Triplett and others. Autographs range between barely visible to 8/10 ink (ball point and felt tip), while the pigskin displays superbly. An extremely important artifact representing one of the most memorable championships in the historic franchise's history. Letter of provenance from Mrs. Perian Conerly. LOA from Heritage Auctions. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
