    Description

1956 City Stadium (Lambeau Field) Original Set of Blueprints (16). Possessing the same significance as Madison Square Garden, Yankee Stadium, Fenway Park and Wrigley Field, Lambeau Field is universally considered one of the most iconic venues in all of sports. Whenever John Madden took part in a Monday Night Football broadcast in Green Bay he always said that if they're going to build a shrine to pro football, then it ought to be Lambeau Field. Maybe it's the so-called "Frozen Tundra," maybe it is the unquestionable innocence that is conveyed by the only surviving "town teams" of professional football, or maybe it is the ghosts of gridiron legends like Lambeau, Blood, Lombardi and the like; whatever it is, the stadium that sits at 1265 Lombardi Ave. is a truly special place.

Presented here is a complete set of original blueprints representing the creation of the venue called "New City Stadium." Bound along the left edge, the collection includes a total of 16 30x48" sheets that have been properly stored in a cardboard tube and originally sourced from architect John E. Somerville. Given to a friend of Somerville and then sold to our consignor, the blueprints present an array of eye appealing angles and details from the stadium that was dedicated to Packers cofounder Curly Lambeau, in 1965.

Exhibiting moderate toning and slight tearing at the edges, they remain in EX condition overall, and would be a perfect candidate for a frame or shadowbox display.
