1918 Curly Lambeau Signed Love Letter and Envelope - From His Only Season at Notre Dame! Most advanced Green Bay Packers collectors may remember years ago when a Wisconsin-area dealer discovered a handful of love letters written to Curly Lambeau's ex wife by the Packers co founder and legendary coach, but few would get the chance to own one of the highly desirable pieces of history. Presented here is the first letter from that incredible find that Heritage has ever offered, and this one was written to then girlfriend of Lambeau, Marguerite Van Kessel on November 25, 1918. Written are in NM-MT black fountain pen ink by Curly on both sides of two 6x9.5" pieces of "Knights of Columbus War Activities" stationery. An excerpt from the correspondence is as follows:

... You can plainly see, now that we (Notre Dame) have a better team than Michigan as Purdue beat them 12-0 the Sat. before we were defeated by them. Lee and Thelma came out on the field immediately after the game and we talked for a minute, but had to hurry as we left at ten minutes to six. It was a shame to beat Purdue after they had planned on winning and invited all the alumni to see the game (Irony). But old N.D. has no mercy on the football field ...

Exhibiting moderate wear throughout, the letter is signed "With the ol' pep and love, Earl," while the envelope's return address is signed by "E.L. Lambeau University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, Indiana." Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
