Description
1961 Fleer Football Series 1 Wax Box with 24 Unopened Packs. For a brief span during the early 1960's Fleer chipped away at the Topps monolith with football card promotions featuring current players and baseball promotions of "Baseball Greats." Today, these sets are great additions to what would otherwise just be Topps, Topps, and more Topps. Unopened material from this era is scarce. Individual unopened packs are prized but what we offer here is very special.Offered is a rarely seen retail display box with twenty-four 5-cent packs that have been barely touched by human hands. Their 1961 effort featured 220 cards. The offered box is from the first series that would contain cards of Hall of Famers like Jim Brown, Bart Starr, Don Meredith, Paul Hornung, Johnny Unitas, John Brodie, Jim Taylor, Bobby Mitchell, Stan Jones, Lenny Moore, plus others like Berry, Bednarik, Huff, Schmidt, Atkins, Marchetti, Nomellini, Conerly, Robustelli, Moore Rookie, Gregg, Kramer, Ringo, Matson and of course card #1 of Ed Brown. Coming out of uncirculated packs these cards could be in Mint or Gem Mint condition! The overall condition of the box is close to near-mint with some buckling to the top cover. Packs have been authenticated and the box comes sealed by Steve Hart-Baseball Card Exchange.
