1954 Bowman Football 1-Cent Wax Box with 120 Unopened Packs! Have you ever wondered why there is the saying, "Good things come in small packages?" This 7-3/4 x 5-1/2 x 2-3/4 box is exactly why people say that! Offered is a miraculous complete box of 1954 Bowman football cards. Still, after 66-years of service, this box made of thin cardboard still contains $1.20 with of wax packs (in 1954 dollars). Inside are 120 packs each priced at 1-cent each. How this box survived is one those incredibly rare finds that defy explanation.

The 1954 Bowman football series was the second to last for the Bowman Gum Company. The 128-card set contains such stars and HoFers as George Blanda Rookie, Doug Atkins Rookie, John Lattner Rookie, Ray Matthews, Otto Graham, Y.A. Tittle, Bobby Layne, Frank Gifford, Leo Nomellini (SP), Doak Walker, Norm Van Brocklin, Dave Hanner Rookie (SP), Joe Perry, Tom Fears, Elroy Hirsch, Lou Groza, Chuck Bednarik, Tobin Rote (SP), Hugh Taylor (SP), Les Richter (SP), Bucko Kilroy (SP), Don Heinrich Rookie (SP), Lou Creekmur (SP), Charlie Conerly, George Connor, Pete Pihos plus others. As you can see, some are rookie debuts and/or a challenging short print.

The outer box does show signs of age and handling. One corner area shows paper attached to the surface. This is a fascinating box with monumental nostalgic appeal and then there is the potential in its contents, and remember there are 120 wax packs inside, completely uncirculated and just waiting to be set free but what a shame that would be.
