    Description

1948 Leaf Johnny Lujack #13 SGC 86 NM+ 7.5. Johnny Lujack is in a club of immensely talented quarterbacks who have origins in Western Pennsylvania in common. The club includes greats like Unitas, Namath, Marino, Montana, Blanda and Jim Kelly. Lujack's greatest years were from 1943-1947 with Notre Dame where he led the fighting Irish to a trio of National Championships and was awarded the Heisman Trophy in '47. This Leaf Gum card is the rookie appearance by the College HoFer and a befitting example at that. Bright colors, near precise registration (rare for the issue) and quality corners combine to earn an 86 NM+ 7.5 grade from SGC. To date, only two examples are graded higher.
