Description

1933 Sport Kings Red Grange (Football) #4 PSA NM-MT 8 - Only Four Higher. Hall of Famer Red Grange was one of the most impressive running backs during the early days of the NFL. A standout at the University of Illinois, he was a three-time Consensus All-American. In one game against Michigan in 1924, he scored five touchdowns with four of the TDs coming in the first 12 minutes of play. His scoring scampers that day came on runs of 95, 67, 56, 45 and 15 yards. Nicknamed "The Galloping Ghost," Grange made a name for himself in college. He went to play for the Chicago Bears between 1925 and 1934 and helped them win NFL titles in 1932 and '33. He scored a total of 21 touchdowns in the pros.

Presented is a classic card featuring Grange from the 1933 Sport Kings series. Difficult to find in high grade, the offered example captures Red wearing his classic uniform and leather helmet. Exhibiting rich colors, good centering, minimal surface wear, four sharp corners and a very clean reverse, this is a high-grade specimen. Graded PSA NM-MT 8. Of the more than 450 examples found in the PSA Pop Report, this is one of 31 examples graded NEAR MINT-MINT with just four rated higher.
