Description
1971 Topps Joe Greene #245 PSA NM-MT 8. To millions of football fans, "Mean" Joe Green was an athlete who's talents were matched only the fierce intimidation he showed opponents. To millions of Coke fans he is part of what is one of the most popular and endearing commercials of all time. The four-time Super Bowl champ played from 1969 through 1981, his entire career was spent with the Pittsburgh Steelers where his menacing style of play at defensive tackle fit into the scheme of the "Steel Curtain" which featured Greene, Holmes, L. C. Greenwood, and Dwight White. The Steelers went 1-13 in 1969... Joe Greene earned NFL Defensive Rookie of The Year honors. As famous as he is for being one of the NFL's all-time greats, his softer side was a huge hit with fans thanks to a Coca-Cola commercial that played during Super Bowl XIV. Every kid in Pittsburgh and in the state of Pennsylvania watching wished they were in that locker room tunnel taking home a treasured jersey for the price of one bottle of soda.
From his early career we offer his 1971 Topps appearance. Graded PSA NM-MT 8.
