1970 Topps Joe Namath #150 PSA Gem Mint 10 - Pop One! By the time "Broadway Joe" posed for the photo on his 1970 Topps card, he'd already accomplished his crowning achievement. Defying the nearly universal predictions of sports pundits that the NFL's Baltimore Colts would be victorious in the third edition of the Super Bowl. Bristling at the avalanche of negativity directed at his underdog Jets, Namath famously proclaimed, "We're gonna win Sunday. I guarantee it."And, as baseball Hall of Famer Dizzy Dean put it, "It ain't braggin' if you can back it up." Namath would do just that, vanquishing the heavily-favored Colts in Super Bowl III, perhaps the greatest forward leap in legitimizing the AFL as a true gridiron contender.
