Description

1965 Topps Joe Namath Rookie #122 SGC 80 EX/NM 6. Joe "Willie" Namath was the Hall of Fame signal-caller for the New York Jets from 1965 to 1976. His greatest claim to fame was making a bold prediction prior to Super Bowl III in which he "guaranteed" victory for his upstart AFL Champion Jets over the heavily favored NFL Champion Baltimore Colts. Namath made good on his promise and delivered a convincing 16-7 win for the J-E-T-S! He finished his career with 27,663 yards passing, 173 touchdown passes, and was inducted into Canton in 1985.

Offered is Namath's sought-after 1965 Topps rookie card, which shows him gripping a football, ready to deliver another pass. This example of card #122 from the '65 Topps "Tall Boys" set is found in mid-grade condition with rich color, good centering, snow white borders, four sharp corners, and a flawless reverse. Graded SGC 80 EX-NM 6.
