Description

1965 Topps Joe Namath Rookie #122 PSA NM 7. Joe Namath was an American original. The young man from Pennsylvania, who spoke with an Alabama accent, came into New York City after being a star quarterback at Alabama. Instead of a team owner trying to contain Broadway Joe's more flamboyant social tendencies, Sonny Werblin, an experienced entertainment mogul, encouraged Namath to party publicly in all the city hotspots, as he knew the value of the publicity. Namath was serious about football though and he was named the AFL's Rookie of the Year in '65. Namath's shining hour was Super Bowl III in January of 1969. Namath had 207 yards passing and earned the game MVP, as the Jets stunned the world with their 16-7 win. Namath was inducted into the Football Hall of Fame in 1985. Offered is Namath's 1965 Topps rookie card #122. Graded PSA NM 7.
