    Description

1965 Topps Joe Namath #122 PSA NM-MT 8. "I got a little hot. All week I read about how great the Colts were and how we didn't belong on the same field with them. I was tired of it. I said, 'Wait a minute, pal, I've got news for you. We're going to win this game. I guarantee it!'." Broadway Joe and his underdog Jets did just that, defeating the heavily-favored Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III played at the Orange Bowl in Miami on January 12, 1969. His rookie card, a part of the "tall boy" 1965 Topps football issue, is larger than the norm; not unlike Namath's legacy. Just a few years after graduating Alabama, his performance helped legitimize the AFL and force an eventual merger with the more established NFL. Of the 638 Namath cards submitted to PSA, only four have graded higher.
