Description
Signed 1973 Topps Mike Schmidt - Rookie Third Basemen #615 PSA NM-MT 8, PSA/DNA Auto 10. Mike Schmidt, widely regarded as one of the greatest third basemen in MLB history, built a Hall of Fame career via elite power at the plate, ten Gold Gloves at the hot corner, and three National League MVP awards all while anchoring the Philadelphia Phillies for nearly two decades. The 1973 Topps Rookie Third Basemen card (#615) is Schmidt's official rookie, upon which he shares the spotlight with fellow NL prospects Ron Cey of the Dodgers and John Hilton of the Padres. As part of the high-number run in the 1973 Topps issue, the card benefits from the set's clean, minimalist layout and focused photography that helped mark a shift in modern card design. This Mike Schmidt debut remains one of the defining rookie cards of the 1970s and a cornerstone piece for any focused Schmidt or vintage Hall of Fame collection. This high-end example of #615 is further bolstered by the fact that Schmidt signed it in blue marker just beneath his photo on the front. Graded PSA NM-MT 8 with a certified PSA/DNA Auto 10.
Guide Value or Estimate: $6,000 - up.
