Description
1992 Clyde Drexler Gold Medal Game Worn & Signed USA "Dream Team" Jersey - Photo Matched! Clyde Drexler's role on the 1992 U.S. Olympic "Dream Team" reflected both his elite two-way versatility and his ability to complement a roster filled with high-usage superstars. Coming off a season in which he led the Portland Trail Blazers to the NBA Finals and finished as runner-up in MVP voting, Drexler brought transition dynamism, slashing efficiency, and defensive length on the wing. While Michael Jordan occupied the primary shooting guard role, Drexler seamlessly adapted, often functioning as a secondary initiator and cutter within Chuck Daly's motion concepts.Internationally, Drexler's open-court instincts were especially valuable given FIBA's emphasis on ball movement and the absence at the time of a defensive three-second rule, which crowded the lane in half-court sets. He thrived in early offense, converting turnovers into quick scoring opportunities and applying pressure defensively across multiple perimeter positions. Drexler averaged 10.5 points per game on highly efficient shooting, frequently capitalizing on the attention drawn by Jordan, Magic Johnson, and Larry Bird.
Beyond the numbers, his willingness to defer while maintaining aggressiveness embodied the team's collective ethos. Drexler's athleticism, adaptability, and defensive engagement ensured that the Dream Team sustained intensity and balance across all lineups, reinforcing its historic dominance.
Presented is the only game worn jersey we've ever offered from the original Dream Team, arguably the greatest assembly of talent ever to play in meaningful competition in any sport. And this one was just photo matched to the Gold Medal game against Croatia, establishing it as just the second gamer from that eighth and final episode of the Americans' unbeaten run in Barcelona to reach the auction block. Just a few weeks ago, Scottie Pippen's Gold Medal gamer commanded a winning bid of $384,000.
The patriotic design will be familiar to the legions of collectors who properly consider the 1992 Dream Team as the high-water mark of Dr. Naismith's game, the white mesh garment featuring screened identifiers reading "USA Basketball 10" and "Drexler 10" on front and back respectively. Red, white and blue trim runs the perimeters of collar, cuffs and rib cage. Champion's logo "C" patch is affixed at upper left chest, and their dual tail tagging appears at lower left front: "Champion USA Basketball Designed and Tailored Exclusively For 1992 Summer Olympic Games" and "Champion [size] 44." Game wear is appropriate for tournament play, and lower front is emphatically autographed in red sharpie with a "USA #10" notation in Drexler's hand. We also have a signed 8x10" photo of Drexler wearing this format but not the exact jersey. LOA from SIA Photo Match. LOA from Heritage Auctions. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
