Description
1909-11 T206 Tolstoi Ty Cobb (Bat Off Shoulder) PSA VG 3. Shortly before his passing in 1961, Ty Cobb wrote, "I am a sadistic, slashing, swashbuckling despot who waged war in the guise of sport." The truth, of course, is somewhat more complex than that, but this greatest figure of the Dead Ball Era was unquestionably the most determined ball player of his time (and perhaps of all time). Cobb brought the same gritted teeth fervor to breaking every record in the books.The Georgia Peach is honored four times in the landmark T206 White Border series. Offered is his "Bat Off Shoulder" entry paired up with a rare and highly desirable "Tolstoi Russian Cigarettes" advertising back. Graded PSA VG 3. There are currently just thirty-two examples confirmed on the PSA census for this front/back combination. Of those, this is one of only four examples graded VG with five graded higher.
