1969 Topps Lew Alcindor Rookie #25 PSA NM-MT 8. The oversized (and ground-breaking) 1969 Topps basketball set was released at the perfect time as it coincided with the rookie debut of future Hall of Famer center Lew Alcindor. Fresh off a hugely successful career at UCLA, where he led the Bruins to three consecutive National Championships, he was selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the 1969 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks and eventually changed his name to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in 1971.During his 20 seasons in the NBA, the majority of which were spent playing for the Los Angeles Lakers, he was named the league's MVP six times. His 19 NBA All-Star Game appearances was another NBA record that has since been eclipsed by the ageless LeBron James. And his 38,387 career points stood as another league record until LBJ broke it in February of 2023. Named one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA history, Abdul-Jabbar won a total of six championships, the first with the Bucks and five more with the Lakers. Offered is his always sought-after 1969 Topps rookie card, which shows him sporting his Bucks warm-ups. One of the most prized RCs in the entire hobby, this example of card #25 is found with minimal, if any, surface wear, nice coloring, spot-on centering, milky white borders and a flawless back. In fact, we're at a loss as to why it didn't grade higher. Graded PSA NM-MT 8.
