Description

2000 Muhammad Ali "Athlete of the Century" Ring. The list of organizations assigning the title, or something very similar, to the great Muhammad Ali is both long and distinguished, including Sports Illustrated magazine, the British Broadcasting Company (BBC) and the Italian periodical La Gazzetta dello Sport. While the various metrics involved in calculating greatness are too vast and varied to assign definitive superiority based upon athletic achievement alone, Muhammad Ali's unparalleled significance in influencing social and political conversations makes the designation fairly uncontroversial.

Presented is one of a small population of rings manufactured to celebrate Ali's coronation as the foremost athlete of the twentieth century, his name applied to a central black onyx with faux diamond studs. "Athlete of the Century" stands in raised block lettering at the perimeter.

Right shank supplies his full name in bold text, and his impressive "56-5" professional career record. Left shank reports, "The Greatest, 3 Time World Heavyweight Champion, 2000." Interior band is stamped "10K" and measures to a size ten (10). Ring is presented in original hinged cherry wood display case. fine condition.
