    1977 Muhammad Ali vs. Earnie Shavers Oil on Boxing Glove by Steve Kaufman. Steve Kaufman has been lauded for his expert craftsmanship recreating the image of Muhammad Ali. Most of his work was done in the 1990's and early 2000's when he would paint Ali's likeness on boxing gloves. This glove has special meaning in it honors the bout which Ali successfully defended his title for the final time. "Sept 29, 1977 Muhammad Ali vs. Ernie Shavers UD-15 New York City" is expertly applied to this glove (right/15.6 ounces) in white paint. Kaufman painted near the wrist in red. His initials are featured on the underside. Letter of provenance from American Pop Art, Inc.
