    Population One of One!

1960 Hemmets Journal Cassius Clay (Muhammad Ali) Rookie #23 PSA Gem Mint 10 - The Finest Example Known to the Hobby!
The young Gold Medalist owned skill and confidence in equal measures, his open-throated bravado establishing the young Louisville Lip as one of the most controversial figures in American sport even before his conversion to Islam and rejection of the Vietnam War draft fanned those flames into an inferno. We find the eighteen-year-old Clay at the cusp of international fame, a card removed from the pages of Hemmets Journal, a Swedish periodical that produced a special issue featuring trading cards of an array of athletes to watch at the 1960 Rome Olympics.

Of course, Cassius Clay would prove to be the most significant figure to emerge from those Games, establishing this rookie card as, by far, the most desirable of the Hemmets breed. The manner of distribution required a hand cut to form individual cards, and here that endeavor was executed masterfully, assigning both razor-sharp corners and flawlessly balanced borders to the piece.

In August of 2017, Heritage sold a Mint 9 example for just over $40,000. This earth shattering Gem Mint is of monumental significance as it triumphs over all examples ever graded. As such, it is difficult to forecast how high the financial ceiling is for this utterly unique and rare relic. Based on the PSA census, this will likely be the sole opportunity to purchase this collector's grail.

Graded PSA Gem Mint 10! A card deserving of a champion, as this is a "Pop One-of-One with None Higher! title holder. Currently, 115 cards (w/qualified examples) have passed the judges of PSA.
