    Description

Rare Jim Corbett "Gentleman Jack" Advertising Poster. One of the first athletes to become a media darling (and promotor) was James Corbett who has the distinction of being able to say he defeated John L. Sullivan in 1892 to become as this poster says, "The CHAMPION of the WORLD." he is in fact the only man to defeat Mr. Sullivan. Corbett's look made him popular with the ladies of the era earning him stardom on the cinema stage. Presented here is a rare lithograph featuring Corbett starring in play called "Gentleman Jack." Printed by the Strobridge Litho Co., the poster measures 12 7/8" x 15 9/16" which is more than likely not the original size. The fragile rarity has also been mounted for preservation to thin card stock, the back of which shows some overall staining. No creasing. Extremely rare and the only example we are aware of as we have found no previous auction results.

Just wanted to let you know how pleased I am regarding the sale of my hockey jersey. You were great to work with, you answered all my phone calls and e-mails in a prompt manner, and you did a great job marketing the jersey.
