Description

1964 Cassius Clay (Muhammad Ali) vs. Sonny Liston I On-Site Program. On February 25, 1964, World Heavyweight Champion Sonny Liston defended his title against a brash young upstart from Louisville, Kentucky named Cassius Clay. Clay was a heavy underdog going into the fight, but his speed and boxing skill proved the undoing of the aging and slower Liston. After fending off an onslaught by Clay, Liston suffered a shoulder injury in Round Six, failed to come out for Round Seven and Cassius was crowned the new Heavyweight Champ. Presented here is a scarce official program to this event. The sixteen-page publication survives in superb condition, with relatively minor wear. An essential relic from the night The Greatest "Shook up the world!" One of the most important bouts in boxing history.
