Willard Mullin Original Artwork Featuring Archie Moore. Classic sports cartoonist and portraitist Willard Mullin honors Archie Moore in this splendid original pen and ink, and charcoal drawing. The piece shows various New York teams questioning there lack of attention in the newspaper, while most of their focus was on the pugilist Moore. Mullin has scripted his name in black ink at the lower right corner. Produced on heavy stock paper, the example (20" x 14") exhibits EX/MT display properties with regionalized discoloration caused by editorial glue remnants. The drawing has been encased in lamination to protect from wear. The reverse bears handwritten instructions stating that the artwork was to be rushed to sports editor via world telegrams in New York City.
