    Description

The Charles "Doc" Broadus Boxing Archive. Believe it or not, the fascinating contents of this lot were left to languish in an unpaid storage locker, much like the collection of Ali trainer Bundini Brown that surfaced in the hobby over a decade ago. Broadus is best remembered for discovering one of Ali's most notable opponents, George Foreman, and worked with such pugilistic luminaries as Sugar Ray Leonard and the Spinks brothers. The collection is anchored by Broadus' World Boxing Hall of Fame presentational plaque and a Foreman training jacket. Also here are Foreman fight programs for Hostetter and Williams, a 1968 letter inviting Foreman to fight in an A.A.U. match, various posters, programs and photos signed by Foreman, Tyson, Frazier, Arguello, Mosely, De La Hoya, Don King, LaMotta, Basilio, Chavez. Also here is an assortment of programs from the 1968 Mexico City Olympics, the court transcript for Foreman's 1994 case against the WBA and much, much more. Some of the posters show considerable storage wear, but for the most part the material is quite well preserved. A copy of the handwritten full itemization is available to interested parties.
