Description

Circa 1900 Oversized Horseshoe Forged by Robert Fitzsimmons. The devastating punching power that earned Fitzsimmons an unprecedented three world titles is commonly believed to have been a result of an apprenticeship in his father's blacksmith shop. Here we have proof that the famed pugilist developed more than a strong upper body at the forge, as this oversized (9.5x11") iron horseshoe exhibits an impressive degree of artisanship. The backside is spangled with imprinted stars and Fitzsimmon's name in block lettering, and the shape and design is perfectly symmetrical. Very few pieces from the career and life of this early Champ have ever been made available to the collecting public, so bidders should see this as a very rare and important opportunity.
