1996 Evander Holyfield Fight Worn Robe from First Mike Tyson Bout, Photo Matched! With the lone Buster Douglas blemish on his record over six years old, Mike Tyson was still considered an unstoppable wrecking machine as he stepped through the ring ropes at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas to risk the WBA Heavyweight belt he had taken from Bruce Seldon two months earlier. The fight began with Iron Mike a 25-1 favorite over the challenger, and when Tyson staggered Holyfield with his first solid punch, it appeared that the oddsmakers would be proven correct.

But Tyson would never hurt Holyfield again, and soon found himself both outboxed and overpowered, kept on his back foot where his legendary power was stifled. The bout probably should have been stopped after the brutal, one-sided beating to close out the tenth round, but Tyson's corner allowed him to come out for the eleventh to suffer more of the same before referee Mitch Halpern stepped in to rescue him. The rematch, of course, would provide one of the most shocking scenes in the history of the sport.

This is the purple satin robe Evander Holyfield wore into the ring to become just the second man to stop Mike Tyson, a perfect match to fight film and Getty Image #72482630. Massive patch on rear of the garment reads, "Evander Holyfield, The Real Deal," while left lapel bears a Bible verse from the devoutly religious Hall of Famer, "Phil. 4:13" [I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me]. Company logos from "Jammin" and "Ironhead Originals" adorn the sleeves and chest respectively. Black satin belt remains with the garment, which presents perfectly. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
