Description

1991 Evander Holyfield Fight Worn Trunks from George Foreman Bout. The Trump Plaza in Atlantic City hosted two of the greatest Heavyweight Champions of all time in a back-and-forth battle on April 19, 1991 that saw Holyfield stunned in rounds two, five and seven, and Foreman hurt in rounds three, seven and nine, but both legends remained standing until the final bell. Holyfield took the unanimous decision wearing these distinctive white satin trunks with African mosaic designs at the hips and a "Members Only" label at lower left front leg, and another at rear waistband. They are a perfect match to photography and film footage of the bout.

Like the 1997 Ring Magazine Fighter of the Year belt likewise on offer in this sale, these trunks entered the collecting marketplace in 2012 as part of the auction of "The Evander Holyfield Collection." This fight also stands tall in boxing history as the launching of TVKO, now known as HBO Pay-Per-View. The television sales generated about $55 million in revenue and, at 8.8%, remains the highest buy rate of any boxing match in history. LOA from Craig Hamilton.
