1988 Michael Spinks vs. Mike Tyson Fight Worn Robe & Trunks - Last Fight of Career. At some point the Spinks Jinx had to meet Mike Tyson. Two of the finest fighters of their time, both champions had plenty to gain with a victory. It was obvious Spinks was overmatched by just looking at the march to the ring. With the fear of god in his eyes, Spinks was planted twice in the first round in a match which lasted about ninety seconds. Iron Mike was the only man on the planet who can say he knocked Spinks down in a professional bout. From Spinks' final professional fight is the very robe and shorts he wore that fateful day. "Michael Spinks "Jinx" World Heavyweight Champion" is masterfully scripted in cursive on the reverse. The interior features white terrycloth. Emblazoned on front is an "Everlast" manufacturer's label. Black trim highlights the breast pocket and runs from top to bottom in the middle. A "[size] XXL" label is suspended in the collar along with "Dry Clean Only" washing instructions. Not to be forgotten are the shorts Spinks wore in his abbreviated title fight. "Spinks" and "Jinx" are embroidered against black reinforcement on the sides and an "Everlast" manufacture's logo is visible on front. A "[size] Large" flag tag is revealed in the waist. "MS" is constructed in chenille threads on the left tail. Both garments show wear and are sourced directly from the collection of Spinks' trainer/promoter Butch Lewis. This is the first Spinks fight-worn robe we have seen, and from the end of a Hall of Fame career no less. LOA from Craig Hamilton.Auction Info
