Description
1986 Mike Tyson Fight Worn Gloves from Zouski Bout. "He was a game opponent and I have to give him a lot of credit for standing in and taking some good punches," the nineteen-year old terror of the Heavyweight division told reporters after the fight, giving Zouski credit for lasting almost three rounds, longer than the bulk of his victims en route to the title he'd win eight months later. These "Everlast" gloves were on his hands when a vicious left hook to Zouski's chin sent him to the canvas for good just twenty-one seconds from the bell to end round three at Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York. The unusual styling of the gloves, with the thumbs sewn to the body and black coloration on the palms and wrists, is evident in fight film, and the authenticity is assured by the included signed letter of provenance from Tyson's former assistant manager Steve Lott. It was Lott who inked "Zouski" into the wrist of each lightly sweat-stained glove for later identification after the fight.Brilliant but polarizing, Mike Tyson remains one of the most compelling figures ever to lace up a pair of gloves, and his recent Hall of Fame induction only confirms what we all already knew, that his brief reign of the sport will never be forgotten. One could reasonably expect that his fight worn memorabilia will likewise maintain its appeal for the coming decades. Letter of provenance from Steve Lott. DVD of the fight is included.
