    Description

1975 Muhammad Ali vs. Chuck Wepner On-Site Fight Poster. It was Ali's first title defense following his stunning upset defeat of George Foreman in Zaire, a bout known to history as "The Rumble in the Jungle," but if that had been a rumble, this Wepner contest was more aptly characterized as an assault. The skill differential was simply too great, and Ali dominated Wepner for fifteen rounds, finally dispatching him just twenty seconds before the final bell. But a controversial knockdown of Ali in the ninth momentarily suggested a stunning upset, and Wepner's gutsy performance inspired a young screenwriter named Sylvester Stallone to write the Oscar-winning film "Rocky."

Presented is an extraordinarily rare on-site poster from the Richfield Coliseum in Richfield, Ohio, where 14,867 fans were treated to dominant Ali victory. The poster measures 13.5x21" and exhibits only minor storage wear and nearly imperceptible staining and foxing. Our catalog imagery should convey that the aesthetics remain very strong, and the intense scarcity of the piece should override any condition concerns.
