Description
1974 Muhammad Ali vs. George Foreman "From Slaveship to Championship" Closed-Circuit Poster. Presented here is one of the most coveted post-war boxing posters that exists, its scarcity and rarity stemming from the fact that it was pulled shorty after being released. The Don King issue, which hypes the fight between two black champions battling on the African continent with the slogan "From Slaveship to Championship" and also depicts African Americans in slave chains, seemed particularly apt. However, it was ultimately deemed too controversial for public display and the promoters ultimately opted for the title coined by Ali himself - "The Rumble in the Jungle" - leaving only a scant few to survive to the present day.
Incredible condition with only mild storage wear and presents in an EX-MT+ state. Measures to dimension of 25x38" and framed to 40.75x28". Overall a fine representation of the most controversial boxing poster ever issued. Note" The frame has two nicks, to the top an bottom. Letter of provenance from troy Kinunen.
