Description
1974 Muhammad Ali vs. George Foreman Ceremonial Kuba Textile Produced For Zaire Government Official. This rare artifact from The Rumble in the Jungle is the only known of its kind. It was most likely presented to Zaire president Mobuto or a member of his inner circle. It was later purchased in Zaire by a Belgium antiquities dealer. Kuba cloth is the traditional fabric made by the Kuba people of central Africa and, like many traditional textiles, holds both practical and symbolic significance, used for clothing, sleeping mats and even currency. The textile measures to the dimensions of 33x26". Framed to the dimensions of 42.25x32.5". One of the most evocative display pieces to emerge from the most famous bout of the twentieth century. Letter of provenance from Troy Kinunen.Auction Info
