    Description

1974 Drew "Bundini" Brown Cornerman's Jacket Worn for Muhammad Ali vs. Joe Frazier II Bout. The historic Madison Square Garden rematch saw the great Muhammad Ali avenge his 1971 loss, the first of his professional career. Though Frazier's earlier decisive loss to George Foreman assured the bout would not be for the belt, the public interest in the fight was intense, particularly after a wrestling match during a Howard Cosell pre-fight interview illustrated the degree of bad blood that remained between the two.

Presented is the black-trimmed white terrycloth cornerman's jacket worn by Ali entourage leader Bundini Brown for this historic event. "Bundini" is embroidered in black over the heart, with "Muhammad Ali" applied in black tackle twill to verso. "Everlast" label at interior collar. Wear is apparent, but the garment survives wonderfully. The jacket was originally purchased in the Drew Brown locker sale in California, and the original inventory tag remains attached near the interior tail. LOA from Craig Hamilton. LOA from Heritage Auctions.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
