Description

1973 Muhammad Ali Training Worn Gloves. Though the scorecards were lopsided in Ali's favor at the close of his Valentine's Day 1973 first bout with Joe Bugner, the Louisville Lip was impressed enough by the scrappy young contender's performance to proclaim that Bugner was capable of being World Champion someday, a sentiment echoed by his trainer Angelo Dundee. Presented is a pair of Mexican-made "Seyer" gloves worn by Ali in training for this bout, exhibiting fine use from boxing's greatest figure. Each is autographed in 9/10 black marker by Ali. The leather exhibits some degradation but the gloves still present well. The pair derives from the same Ring Magazine collection that provides this auction with gloves from Baer, Patterson and Louis vs. Musto. LOA from Harry Shaffer. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
