1971 Muhammad Ali vs. Joe Frazier Full Suite of Fifteen Etchings by LeRoy Neiman.
"The people that love my paintings...they're spectators, not viewers. They look at it for the experience and then re-experience for themselves." It's a brilliant self assessment from the most famous sports artist of all time, who served as a documentarian just as much as a creator of beauty. In Neiman's chaotic brush strokes lies an honesty that not even photography could convey, and we see that preternatural insight into the athletic experience in this most coveted folio from the Neiman archives.
This suite of fifteen original etchings was produced in a limited edition of just 150, documenting round by round Muhammad Ali's first ever defeat at the gloved hands of Smokin' Joe Frazier, a bout that lived up to its "Fight of the Century" hype. Each print is hand-signed and numbered "133/150" by the artist, and measures 15x20" in size. Fine condition in original leather folio. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from SGC Authentic.
