Description

1964 Joe Frazier Identification Card & Team Jacket from Tokyo Summer Olympics. Like fellow Heavyweight Champions and Boxing Hall of Famers Muhammad Ali and George Foreman, this giant of the 20th century prize ring launched his professional career soon after winning Olympic Gold, and this exciting collection was acquired by our consignor from Joe's son Marvis, who she was dating upon taking possession. The identification card is quite similar in appearance to a passport, with a small photograph, a signature and even Frazier's profession (Butcher's Helper) appearing in the text. We wonder if fellow Philly fighter Rocky Balboa got the idea to punch slabs of beef from this. Dimensions when unfolded are 4.25x9". Also here is Frazier's Team USA blazer which exhibits very heavy wear suggestive of use far beyond those Summer Games. Scattered staining, tears, heavy pilling. No Frazier identifier, but the source and accompanying Olympic identification documents validate provenance. Letter of provenance from ex-girlfriend of Frazier's son.
