1964 Clay vs. Liston I Official Program. On February 25, 1964, World Heavyweight Champion Sonny Liston defended his title against a brash young upstart from Louisville, Kentucky named Cassius Clay. Clay was a heavy underdog going into the fight, but his speed and boxing skill proved the undoing of the aging and slower Liston. Liston, after taking heavy punishment, quit on his stool in the seventh round claiming to have suffered a shoulder injury, and Cassius was crowned the new Heavyweight Champ. Presented here is a scarce official program to this event. This program contains sixteen pages and survives in excellent condition, with very mild edge and corner wear all that bears mention. An essential relic from the night The Greatest claimed the Heavyweight Championship of the World.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
