1955 Rocky Marciano Backup Gloves from Final Match of His Career vs. Archie Moore. Rocky Marciano's final fight on September 21, 1955, was a perfect exclamation point to a flawless career. Facing light heavyweight champion Archie Moore, Marciano demonstrated his trademark power, determination, and indomitable spirit. After being knocked down early, he roared back with relentless pressure and explosive punches, ultimately scoring a dramatic ninth-round knockout. His final performance encapsulated everything that made him an enduring icon in the world of boxing.These Benlee gloves served as the backup pair for Marciano's final fight. The insides of both gloves have a stamp from the New York State Athletic Commission which were approved by the commission. The right glove has a hang attached tagged which has the date of the bout along with 6 3/32. Craig Hamilton's letter of provenance states that two sets of gloves are approved for a fight. One pair is used for the actual fight while another serves as a backup. These were the ones which sat at ringside had Marciano's fight-used gloves been torn or deemed unable to be used.
