Description

1953 Rocky Marciano vs. Jersey Joe Walcott Pennant. Ultra-rare pennant was sold at Chicago Stadium on May 15, 1953 as the undefeated Heavyweight Champ met the man from whom he'd claimed the title eight months earlier with one of the most devastating punches ever thrown in a professional bout. This rematch would again end with a Walcott knockout, albeit a controversial one, as Jersey Joe was down but apparently in full possession of his senses as the referee counted, and simply waited a half second too long to stand. This is the very first pennant we've encountered from that memorable second bout, presenting nearly flawlessly with a tiny tack hole near the tip and missing its tassels. Otherwise, the pennant is about as unbeatable as the man who defended his belt the day it was sold. Length twenty-six inches.
