    Description

1950's Joey Maxim Cornerman's Jacket/Sweater Worn by His Manager. Sugar Ray Robinson was stopped only once in this 201-fight career, and this was the man to do it. The presented cornerman's jacket/sweater dates to the height of the former Light Heavyweight Champion's career, a simple white knit cardigan by "Bllepp-Coombs" with "Joey Maxim" applied in 1.75" block felt lettering on verso. A small felt patch at lower right front tail reads "Doc," attributing the garment to Maxim's manager Jack "Doc" Kearns. Fine condition with just a few small stains to report. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
