Description

1949-65 Rocky Marciano Handwritten Signed Letters and Ephemera Lot of 8. Five early handwritten signed letters with original mailers contain tremendous boxing and personal content.

March 10, 1949 -- "I'm fighting March 21st at Providence RI...I've said all I need is experience. My hand is all healed. It's just like new I hope...I'm resting now so's I can work good at 3 o'clock at the gym...I go steady again with a good Irish girl so I live clean. Of course every once in a while I meet a stray N.Y. cat that's lonely then I play a while but all in all I'm in good shape...Love Rocco."

November 12, 1949 -- I may fight in New York Dec 2. I think it's Carmine Vingo (Bingo)...Did you see that 'Mike Buha',,,I can kill him...Marcel Cerdan [who passed away on October 28, 1949] used to train at my gym always. He was a great guy."

December 13, 1949 -- "I fight Monday at Providence. I believe it's Walter Hafer I'm going to lick...Then there's talk of me fighting Carmine Vingo the 30th of this month in Madison Sq. Gard...I'm in excellent shape at 182 lbs and I'm ready for anyone...By the way what's the name of that girl that knows me. I'm curious...The New York papers want Rocky Graziano to fight Robert Villemain. That would be some fight...Love Roc."

March 1950 -- "Well I'm in New York and ready to work hard for 3 weeks...I weighed 188 lbs yesterday...I know she's the one for me but I wish I could stall until I either get the crown or at least much money. But you know these women, Joe, she's afraid of some of those gold diggers. But I don't even fool a round one bit, not that I wouldn't like to. Actually Joe, everything is to win, win, win...Joe, I always say a little prayer won't hurt none so say a couple for me...Always Rocco. Big Roc."

November 1950 -- "I'm fighting Dec 18 at Providence RI again. This time it's Bernie Reynolds [actually Bill Wilson]. I'm told that then maybe I get the shot at Joe Louis. Scout him in Chicago the 29 [versus Cesar Brion] and let me know what's what. I'm not sure about my wedding plans...I'm in New York getting a line on Rex Layne. The smart money says Walcott but they're building Layne up to the sky. I don't know why except maybe they want Louis to fight him first...I had a tough fight Monday [versus Ted Lowry] but I think it was good for me. I learned a few things, Joe. God Bless You. Rocky Marciano."

Also, August 2, 1952 hand written and signed postcard signed "Rocky Marciano" in NRMT black ink; 1952 Marciano-Walcott stub (EX). This was the fight when Rocky became the champ; and 1965 color photograph (8x8") of the champ at home. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
