Description
1942 Joe Louis World War II Propaganda Poster and Chesterfield Broadside. During World War II Louis went into the army and fought numerous exhibitions to raise troop morale. Louis actually contributed the entirety of his boxing purses to the war effort. In 1942 the army had Louis pose for a now famous poster which pictures him in army gear with bayonet and the slogan, "We will win because God is on Our Side." Presented here is that rare original poster. This very scarce version measures 18x25". Overall a EX piece with strong color. Also included is an original Joe Louis "Chesterfield" advertising broadside (1940's), which measures at 20.5x21.5. VG-EX quality exhibited.Auction Info
