1938-55 Rocky Marciano, Joe Louis, etc. Boxing Ticket Stubs Lot of 3. This assortment of three boxing tickets covers nearly a two-decade spread of great match-ups. First up is a historic offering of the June 22, 1938 title bout between Joe Louis and Max Schmeling. Although there had been many great African-American fighters before him, Joe Louis gave America a great sense of national pride in fighting the German Nazi-backed Max Schmeling. In doing so, Louis became perhaps the first African-American hero in America. In their first match-up in 1936, Schmeling took the victory, but in this 1938 re-match, Louis would be defending his year-old Championship Title. It took just over two minutes for Louis' barrage of fists to knock Schmeling down by technical knock out. The German would land just two punches in the fight. It should be noted, however, that Schmeling grew increasingly apart from his Nazi backers and a few months after this fight he would actually hide two young Jewish boys from the Gestapo. Schmeling would again become a national German hero, but this time it would be due to his resistance to the Nazi party.

Also included in this lot are two Rocky Marciano tickets, the first being a 4/10/1953 World Heavyweight bout against Jersey Joe Walcott. Marciano would hold onto his title with a first round knock out of Walcott. This ticket presents as Near Mint and would be a great candidate for grading. Also included is a ticket stub from Marciano's September 20, 1955 final defense of his title against Archie Moore, resulting in a ninth round knock out. This stub, which was a one day postponement due to hurricane winds, bears the date of Sept. 20th, and grades at a solid EX-MT.
