1929 Sharkey vs. Stribling Official Program. The one and only example we've ever encountered of the program for the historic meeting of two International Boxing Hall of Famers, a bout widely hyped by gangster Al Capone, just two weeks removed from the gruesome St. Valentine's Day Massacre when he joined his friend Jack Dempsey at ringside. The thirty-two page program pictures Dempsey on the cover along with the fighters, promoter George R.K. Carter, and the late Tex Rickard, the legendary promoter who passed away just a month before the contest. Expected handling wear is evident, but the program remains complete and tightly bound despite its technical VG rating. Condition issues must be forgiven in light of the intense scarcity. A special artifact from a date which helped to put the City of Miami on the map of the sporting world.Auction Info
