1927 Dempsey vs. Tunney "Long Count Fight" Program. While stubs from this monumental event in sports history are fairly readily available in the hobby (due to attendance of 145,000, a record for a boxing match), the same cannot be said of programs issued for the event. Here we present one of those programs, sold to a fan on hand at Chicago's Soldiers' Field to witness Heavyweight Champ Gene Tunney snatch victory from the jaws of defeat due to Jack Dempsey's costly error. The publication exhibits general handling wear throughout, with a vertical bend down center from having been tucked in a fight fan's pocket, but the program remains complete and fully bound to the staples. Center scorecard is unmarked. A fantastic relic from the Golden Age of Sport.
